The Armoured Train Project Progresses
The armoured train on display at the Parola Armour Museum is unique in Finland and one of the rarest in the world. The oldest wagon dates back to 1915. Currently, a restoration project is underway to return the train to its appearance during the Continuation War, as part of a railway anti-aircraft unit, and to ensure the preservation of this historically significant railway asset.
The train has already been painted in camouflage colours, and its equipment is being completed. In the spring of 2025, a steel-frame shelter will be constructed to protect the train, and safe pathways will be created for museum visitors. An exhibition space showcasing the train's history will also be prepared in one of the wagons. The entire project is expected to be completed by June 2025.
